How CONVENE works

What CONVENE is, where its dates come from, how to use it, and how to read an entry.

What is CONVENE

CONVENE is a calendar of the major medical and biopharma congresses. For each meeting you get the dates, the city, and the deadlines that matter: abstract, late-breaking and registration.

It is built for medical affairs, market access, commercial and business development teams who plan travel, submissions and booth presence a year ahead.

Dates can change. Always confirm on the congress website before you book. See Limits.

Data

  • Where dates come from: the organiser's or society's own website. Where that page could not be read, a listing site that quotes the organiser is used and the entry is tagged Check dates.
  • Every entry shows its source: the page the dates came from and the day it was last checked.
  • Refreshed monthly. On the 1st of each month every source is read again. Moved dates are corrected and new editions are added.
  • Coverage: major meetings across oncology, haematology, neurology, cardiovascular, infectious disease and other areas, in North America and Europe, plus industry meetings such as BIO and J.P. Morgan.

How to use

  1. Open CONVENE. Meetings that have not finished are listed by month.
  2. Filter by name, city, therapeutic area, region or dates.
  3. Press Deadlines to see every deadline in date order, with the days left.
  4. Press Add to calendar on a meeting, or Add all to calendar, to put the dates in Outlook, Apple Calendar or Google Calendar.

The Help page has more detail.

Reading an entry

ItemMeaning
DatesFirst and last day of the meeting, as the source page states them
Check datesThe dates came from a listing site, or two sources disagreed. Confirm on the congress website.
DeadlinesAbstract, late-breaking and registration dates, shown only where a page states them
SourceThe page the dates came from and the day it was checked
  • No deadlines listed does not mean there are none. Open the meeting's website.
  • Dates are plain calendar days, so they read the same in every time zone. A cut-off time is given in the note when the page states one.

Limits

  • Not every meeting is listed. Smaller regional and subspecialty meetings are not all there.
  • Dates can move between monthly checks. Confirm with the organiser before you book.
  • Deadlines are partial. Many organisers publish them late or only in PDFs.
  • Calendar files are copies. If a congress moves its dates later, a file you already added does not change.

Questions

A meeting I need is missing.

CONVENE lists major meetings, not every one. New meetings are added at the monthly check once an official page gives their dates.

What does “Check dates” mean?

The dates could not be confirmed on the organiser's own page, or two sources disagreed. Treat them as likely, not certain.

Does CONVENE keep anything about me?

No. There is no account, and nothing you type or select is sent anywhere. Your filters live only in the page address, so you can share a view.
